Bubbles & Puffles Redesign

Bubbles & Puffles Corporate Redesign

Class: Corporate Identity
The idea of this project was to redesign a not-so-good logo from a local business, and make it better. I chose Bubbles & Puffles in Akron, Ohio as their logo was too complicated with using three different artstyles. I was set to also design letterheads, business cards, uniforms, ads, and much more for them as well. I chose a pink color palette since their old logo was majority pink. Boba tea is also referred as bubble tea, so I wanted a rounded typeface to play into the bubbles. There’s also hidden tapioca balls in place of the negative space in the lettering.

Book Illustration

Book Illustration

Class: Illustration
The idea of this project was to draw a book cover of anything I wanted. I chose to draw about a song by Green Day called Christie Road. The song is about a place where your friends all hangout and you just forget about life for a while. I took inspiration from Bill Watterson on the artstyle as it fits well with Green Day’s early 90’s punk style.

NBA Jersey City Edition

NBA Jersey: City Edition

Class: Advanced Graphic Design
The idea of this project was to create a new design for an NBA team jersey of my own choice. The design had to relate to the history of the city the team was based in. I chose the Boston Celtics and I based the design around the American Revolution. Boston was one of the first major American cities, and played a vital role leading up to the revolution. To name a few, the Boston Massacre of 1770, and the Boston Tea Party in 1773 were crucial events in starting the American Revolution. So I designed the jersey around Washington’s Continental Army that wore blue coats and white belts across their chest. I also made a tribute to the black and white cockade that was worn by the Continental Army on the front of the jersey displaying the number of the player. for

MacTV

Mac & Cheese Box

Class: Packaging Design
The idea of this project was to design and create a mac & cheese box with three flavors. I chose a theme based around a CRT TV, modeled after my 2005 Toshiba Cinema Series. The flavors consist of Latenight Alfredo, Saturday Morning Cheddar, and Daytime Mozzarella.

Self Mailer

Self Mailer

Class: Typography IV
The idea of this project was to create a self mailer for a local business to advertise what they were planning to do, such as events, sponsors, newsletters, etc. We could only use two colors and their respective shades and highlights. I chose the Great Lakes Science Center, as it’s a great place to learn about science as a whole.

Magazine Project

Magazine Project

Class: Typography IV
The idea of this project was to create a magazine spread to learn how a magazine is designed and printed. My magazine subject is on the topic of freerunning, which is similar to parkour, but instead of focusing on the speed of it, it focuses on the art of parkour.

Typography III
This project demonstrates the use of type pairings and how to use them effectively.

Koichi Sato Quote
Class: Typography III

“It may be said that it is a “marriage of reality and art” that a passer-by can glimpse at an image printed on a piece of paper” – Koichi Sato

Herb Lubalin Quote
Class: Typography III

“The better people communicate, the greater will be the need for better typography-expressive typography.” – Herb Lubalin

Josef Müller-Brockmann Quote
Class: Typography III

“The grid system is an aid, not a guarantee. It permits a number of possible uses and each designer can look for a solution appropriate to his personal style. But one must learn how to use the grid; it is an art that requires practice.” – Josef Müller-Brockmann

Keith Haring Quote
Class: Typography III

“Art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.” – Keith Haring

Wes Wilson Quote
Class: Typography III

“We’re not going to have too much of a strategy. One side of our back field will be made for really little ones, and the other sides will be open to first- to fifth-graders.” – Wes Wilson

Campaign For Good

Campaign For Good

Class: Typography III
The idea of this project was to create an ad for an organization for them to use to help their cause. The organization I chose was WildAID, and my message was to help spread awareness of the mass killing of sharks, via illegal finning, or by bycatch in fishing nets.

Monty Python Trading Card

Art Appropriation

Monty Python Trading Card
Class: Foundations Forum
This project was to appropriate someone else’s work, and recreate it in your own way in a different medium. I chose to appropriate Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The movie is hilarious and has so much content that I love, that I couldn’t just not make something from that movie. So I illustrated art for a trading card. I reimagined King David’s Holy Face with King Arthur, holding The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog and the Holy Hand Grenade.
